Climate Action Plan
Following on from our community climate events during 2022/2023 in the Eriskay Community Hall to which all members of the local community were invited to attend.
Also in attendance were Dr. Bobby McAulay, University of the Highlands &Islands.
Ruairidh Moir, Architect, Bard Alteir &, Dr. Alan Miller, St. Andrews University.
It was a very informative afternoon as each of our guests gave an overview of Climate Change and how it will affect Eriskay, changes for example in our coastline are already in evidence.
Our architect Ruairidh Moir gave a full and detailed outline of the intention to have the school a net zero building making it the first building in the Western Isles to achieve this status. At present the building has been shortlisted for an award on this basis and we await news with bated breath for the outcome, we will keep you all posted!!
In addition the group will also be looking at ways to enhance amenities for all. As ever we thank our wonderful community for their support and attendance.
As a result of the continued consultation regarding the island , erosion etc, we a have produced a Climate Action Plan for Eriskay which is now developing into a Commuity Action Plan.
