At Comann Eachdraidh Eirisgeidh, we believe that the younger generation holds the key to preserving and celebrating the rich history of Eriskay and the surrounding islands. Through our collaborations with local schools and community groups, we have developed engaging, hands-on experiences for children to explore and learn about the island’s heritage. From the story of the sinking of the SS Politician to the vibrant history of our fishing industry, the legacy behind our world-famous Football Club, and the rare Eriskay Pony, we aim to connect young minds with the stories that define our community. We carefully select heritage topics supported by interesting artefacts, hoping to capture the children's attention and inspire them to learn more. Our goal is to spark an interest in safeguarding our heritage, whether by encouraging them to revisit these stories as they grow older or inspiring future careers in the heritage sector. Through these educational events, we ensure that the legacy of Eriskay lives on in the hearts of the next generation.
